(5/11/23) Advancing Behavioral Health Workforce in Schools Event
Thank you to the Colorado School Mental Health Community of Practice for inviting me and my colleague Rep. Michaelson-Jenet to discuss the state’s behavioral health workforce in schools. This was a wonderful way to share some of the important policy we passed this session, including SB23-004, Employment Of School Mental Health Professionals, which will increase our mental health workforce in schools. Additional thanks to the Behavioral Health Administration for their ongoing work to ensure adequate behavioral health services are available in schools.
Town Hall Recap: Housing for Individuals with Disabilities
I am so grateful to all the wonderful community members, advocates, and experts who attended our town hall last Saturday to discuss issues of housing for individuals with disabilities. I would like to extend a special thank you to the individuals with disabilities for joining us – your lived experiences and insight are always crucial to these conversations. Participation is so critical to effectively solving problems in our communities, and I feel strongly that the people of House District 50 are well-equipped to collaborate in the spirit of problem-solving moving forward.
I would also like to thank all of our speakers, who you can find listed below. Additionally, I have attached a video provided by my colleague Representative Ortiz of House District 38, who could not attend the town hall but was kind enough to share about some of his bills which impact the issues of housing for individuals with disabilities.
During the town hall, Rochelle Miller with Connections for Independent Living mentioned 11 bills that their organization is watching related to issues of housing and disability rights. She was kind enough to share these bills with us, which I have included below.
Please find a recording of the town hall attached. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas please do not hesitate to email me at repmmcyoung@gmail.com or call my office at (303) 866-2929.
